Attention: Californians in the 46th District

You have one of the nuttiest humanoids walking the planet representing you by the name of Dana Rohrabacher. Dana's most recently been famous for introducing HR 3722 - a bill which would give hospitals the green light to kick undocumented aliens to the curb and/or report them to the feds. Here's his gracious response to the bill's going down in flames:

"H.R. 3722 was defeated by an unholy alliance between big business and left-wing activists. These powerful groups, who do not have the best interests of the country or the American taxpayer at heart, were able to overwhelm Congress with mis-information about my bill. Unfortunately, a significant number of Congressmen succumbed to this propaganda and voted against H.R. 3722.

"I hope every citizen of this country uses the vote on H.R. 3722 to determine whether their representative has defended the good of their constituents against powerful special interest groups.

"The American taxpayer, however, may rest assured, that this legislation will live to fight another day."
That's not all. Given the chance, Rohrabacher would drag Bill Clinton back into the White House just to impeach him all over again. Just one month ago, he invoked Clinton's name an astounding 15 times during a speech on the Abu Ghraib prison scandal - mostly blaming him for every bad deed ever performed (including helping to create the Taliban!). He shrugs off the abuses thusly:

"We Americans should not flagellate ourselves because of a tiny number of American personnel who humiliated or abused prisoners. [...] But such abuses and such mishaps and wrongdoing have occurred in every war. From the American Revolution on, we have seen soldiers who perhaps lose a friend and are struck by grief and lash out with revenge, killing a person or killing a prisoner or mistreating a prisoner or, we find, in some cases, a person with sadistic tendencies ends up overseeing the prisoners that have been taken. This happens in every war and conflict. Yes, things like this may have happened in this war as well."
The speech is a fire-and-brimstone pro-war diatribe which comes from a man who has (brace yourself - I know this will come as a shock to you) zero military experience.

We bring this up to bring the man who will be opposing him in the upcoming election, Jim Brandt, to your attention. He's a proponent of healthcare for all, energy independence, and a sharp critic of what he calls "Ashcroft's Police State" and "a quick and honorable end to a costly and unneccessary war in Iraq." Of course, he's a Vietnam veteran which means Rohrabacher must really hate the guy for talking about war.

Check out Brandt. Give him a little turkee. Put sanity in the House. And spare California any more embarrassment.
