Many will credit him for ending the Cold War (The USSR actually did themselves in). Some say he presided over prosperous years (yeah, thanks for creating yuppies while I went broke paying 13.375% interest on my first house).
Whatever the magic was that he had, it sure didn't weave itself over me. I never "got" Reagan, but he did provide us a worthy opponent - as well as a $480 billion deficit and tax cuts for the rich. Familiar, isn't it? But despite the taunting, the arms sales to Iran and commie-baiting he so relished, we were relatively war-free. I may never forgive him for Big Hair Rock, though.
