Republican Darrel Issa spearheads a seemingly successful campaign to recall the 2002 California gubernatorial election won fairly and squarely by Democrat Gray Davis.
Several years ago, Californians overwhelmingly approved a measure legalizing medical marijuana, only to have it squashed by the federal government.
And of course in 2000, Al Gore, having received over half a million more votes than George W. Bush, lost the presidency to a court decision.
Ask me again why more and more Americans don't bother to vote anymore.
