Gotta Hand It To Bush - His Timing Is Impeccable

Bush gave a little pep talk about the economy last year (corrected) at the Timken Comapny in Canton, Ohio - a ball-bearing and steel manufacturing plant:

President Bush: Thanks for the warm welcome. I appreciate you letting me come by to say hello. I'm honored to be in Canton, and I'm honored to be here at the Timken company. Tim was telling me that you all have been in business since 1899. Turns out that's when William McKinley of Canton slept in the same room I'm sleeping in.

Tim told me that this is a company, "We are a 'roll up your sleeves' company." It is a "can do" environment. Which is one of the reasons I've got so much optimism about the future of our economy, because of the "roll up your sleeves" attitude by thousands of our fellow Americans, because of the business sense of, "We can do whatever it takes to overcome the obstacles in our way."

I know you're optimistic about the future of this company. I'm optimistic about the future of our country. [...]

We're building prosperity for this country. This is a unique moment in our history. And you're living through it. And as importantly, the American people are rising to meet it.

I want to thank each of you for your strength. I want to thank you for your love of your country. I want to thank you for the work you do every day.
Whoa there, cowboy. It turns out you couldn't weave an ounce of magic at the Timken Company. Today:

Timken To Close Canton Bearing Manufacturing Plants
Production To Be Shifted To Other Plants

CANTON, Ohio -- The Timken Co. announced Friday that it will close its Canton bearing manufacturing operations, affecting 1,300 jobs.

The company expects most of the production to be shifted to its other U.S. plants.

Timken employs 4,800 in Stark County and approximately 26,000 worldwide. The Canton-based steel operations are unaffected by the decision.

Production at the Canton bearing plants has declined 27 percent over the last five years as the cost structure of the operations made it difficult to win new business.
Can President Dumbass possibly, in the very deepest depths of his stupidity, do any worse about EVERYTHING he comes near? Thanks for the reserach, Cognito - you rock.
