GUY GADGET ALERT - GUY GADGET ALERT

I buckled under pressure (my own) and took the XM Radio plunge. It wasn't my fault. They have this new product which jumped into my hand and forced me to purchase it. (My wife believes this story. Just go along with me here.)

It's called "Roady" - a self-contained install-it-yourself contraption which plays through your car's cassette deck. The last thing I installed in my car was an 8-track player in a 1970 Camaro, and this was pretty easy. The antenna can be wedged inside the windshield or rear window. I managed to snake the wires in the crevaces of my dashboard rather nicely, and activated the thing on my cel phone - all in a Sav-On parking lot.

Best Buy had 'em for $109 with a free mail-in coupon for a home kit. The down side: FOX News is part of the service. The up side: everything else is - although I'd be scared to drive next to a guy who paid extra for channel 205.

It's pretty cool receiving music from outer space in your car. Treat yourself - it's great stuff. Except for the FOX News channel.
