I listen to the "Wiseguys Show" hosted by Vincent "Big Pussy" Pastore on Sirius on occasion and I marvel at how his co-hosts are just crazy for Bush and call John Kerry every name in the book (Pastore wisely keeps his opinions out of such discussions).
Sopranos gangster "Paulie Walnuts" joined a mob of diehard Republicans yesterday at a Queens fund-raiser that helped pump cash into President Bush's campaign.
Actor Tony Sirico, who plays the mobster on the hit HBO series "The Sopranos," joined more than 100 people at the Belle Harbor Yacht Club, which was sponsored by the Rockaway Republicans.
"I'm here because I'm a far-to-the-right Republican," he said.
So no wonder it dawned on me the one Bush personality trait that some people find irresistable. Bush represents the "tough guy" in folks who aspire to be or who think they're tough guys themselves - even though their past experience proves otherwise. Bush was an underachiever, and ended up being this kneejerk hitman on the rest of the world. Just like these guys would like to be.
I don't have any desire to be a closet tough guy, and therefore Bush's personality has absolutely no appeal to me. I ain't no psychologist, but I do see a pattern.
Let's do a whacking of our own on this little thug wanna-be this November.
