Forgot to mention they rebuilt the Hollywood Bowl shell during the winter. Everyone's bragging about how great the sound now is. It was great, I gotta say, but I think it's more attributed to the monster racks of bigass speakers flanking the new shell, not the shell itself.
Here's a shot of Tracy Chapman's turn after sunset.
The sound deflection spheres which used to hang inside the shell have been replaced by that sound and light contraption which I believe was used by ELO during their 1977 Out Of The Blue tour. We hope to hear the LA Phil to get the full shell effect later this year. As always, a good show tonight.
