Kerry-Edwards' Pre-Emptive Strategy

I've been thinking of what the payoff would be, but to grab headlines and give the GOP a much-needed tweak in their humorless gut, Kerry/Edwards should craft a TV spot using (or refering to) Kerry's "when I was in 'Nam, he was in diapers" clip. Quick idea:
KERRY:
John...welcome to the team.

EDWARDS:
Thanks, John. We've got a lot of work ahead
of us.

KERRY:
Well, there's no time like the present to
start getting our message to America. (extends
hand) Ready?

EDWARDS:
(grabs Kerry's hand) Ready!

CAMERA ZOOMS OUT as both men don helmets. We see
Edwards climbing aboard Kerry's Harley as Kerry
cranks the engine.

EDWARDS:
This thing is safe, right?

KERRY:
(as they ride away into the sunrise)
I've been riding these things since you were in
diapers.

SUPER: KERRY/EDWARDS LOGO
A New America Is Dawning

EDWARDS:
Funny, John. Very funny.

FADE OUT
It would involve hiring someone who can have them pull off the punchline - after all, it's not hard to find liberal writers and directors with great comedy timing.

Making and running something like this - even in just one market for one day - would not only blunt a GOP attack, but would be wall-to-wall on every newscast in the country. If you're looking to get some street talk, there it is. A freebie.
